White beads for a winter day
I live in the Midwest, not too far from Lake Michigan, and in January into February, we’re subject to lake effect snows and gloomy gray skies. I like snow, and I don’t mind cold, but I do hate the month-long stretch of unrelenting cloudy weather. I miss the sun, and it’s made me somewhat depressed.
Of course, there’s no better way to beat the winter blahs than to create. So today I made this little bracelet:
The square beads I believe are Italian Onyx, and the smaller accent beads are Dalmatian Jasper. Each link is joined with antiqued copper style headpins and finished off with antiqued copper style chain and matching lobster clasp from the Industrial Chic line which is available at Michael’s.
I believe the whole thing measures about 7 inches, and extends to just under 8 inches at the end of the chain. I’ll probably post it for sale later on the site, but first I have to make up my mind whether I want to keep it or not. I think that is the biggest challenge when making jewelry. Often times I want to keep all the goodies I make for myself.
And here’s a closeup so you can really see the detail in the Dalmatian Jasper beads.
