August Art Bead Scene Challenge

Whew! This Saturday, I’ll have a booth at my town’s local art fair, ArtBeat. And I’ve been so busy making earrings and other pieces for the show, that I almost forgot to finish my Art Bead Scene Challenge piece for August!

I’d been hemming and hawing about the design, unsure what direction to take. But this morning I woke up with inspiration, and sat down to execute the idea. Here’s the finished piece.

I ended up choosing the burnt orange, green and black colors from the inspiration piece, and tried to block the colors in equal parts, the way the balance of the original print had been laid out. The pendant is by Earthenwood Studio, and is flanked by dyed pearls from Hobby Lobby. Then I graduated some Red Creek Jasper 8mm Rounds I got from Lima Beads, and finished it with some tumbled black agate nuggets I got from Fire Mountain Gems. The clasp is from JoAnne, and is Blue Moon, and the little tiny glass beads are Brown Iris Czech Glass seed beads from Hobby Lobby.

Let me know what you think. And Don’t forget to visit Art Bead Scene’s Flickr Group to see all of the rest of this month’s pieces!

A beautiful combination of colours and textures, I love that the floral pattern of the pendant is also evident in the clasp – it’s so balanced.
